Costa Rica’s climate is tropical, with two seasons: dry and rainy. With an average temperature of 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit (21-26 degrees Celsius). The Pacific and Atlantic coasts are mostly hot. Temperatures in the mountains can drop to 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius). The highest temperature in the Pacific during the hot summer days can reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit (35 Celsius).

December through April

Known as: Little High Season (short break for the rainy season)

Highlights:

-A good time to visit the Caribbean Coast

-Bursting with wildlife and rainforest splendor

-Sometimes act as a short break in the rainy season

Known as: The Wet Season

-The East coast might have some dry days

-Some locations require a 4×4 to get to them

-It is the best time to catch good waves and surf

-Tricky travel due to poor road conditions and landslides

July and August

Known as: Driest Season

-Perfect Time to Visit

-Bright and Sunny Beaches

-Accessibility to All Attractions

-Marine life is also excellent this time of the year

-Whales in the Golfo Dulce in December and January

-Better deals available 

-More rain than in the dry season

-Because of the rain the flora and fauna are at their best

-The best time to snorkel and kayak on the beaches of the Golfo Dulce

-Showers are usually condensed into a few short showers, with sunny days.

-The surfs start to pull through, making Costa Rica one of the best surfing destinations
